special dreams

red light flashes, blinds us
and sets our blood in motion;
frantic rhythm winds us,
twists us to exhaustion.

special dreams
don't survive the night;
sighs and screams
dissolve in light.

the world ends in our vicinity
and our brains are in flames;
time stretches to infinity
and we move in freeze frames.

our selves are lost, yet regained,
enhanced but somehow diffused
and we're completed but drained
of trifles, sensation-infused.

special dreams
don't survive the night;
sighs and screams
dissolve in light.
